Our products are made from either certified organic cotton or recycled organic cotton. We only work with supply partners who are certified by at least one of the following organizations: GOTS, OCS, FAIR WEAR. All products are printed in Belgium with Eco friendly water based and discharged ink. You can find the specific certifications of each item in the related product page.
The main benefit of organic materials is that the crops aren’t treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and Genetically Modified Organisms. These toxins are harmful for farmers and workers, us as consumers, and entire wildlife eco-systems.
Organic cotton also uses far less water than for conventional cotton and is softer because of the longer fibers. Being handpicked ensures these fibers don't get weakened or broken, resulting in softer and more durable products.
The usage of organic cotton helps protecting our planet as well as ourselves. However, most cotton produced globally is still conventional cotton. By using organic cotton, we take part in helping invert that trend and play our role in being more environmentally friendly.
Social standards, alongside with environmental impact, is another critical issue in the world of garment manufacturing. The availability of cheap and disposable high street fashion often offers an inconvenient truth behind it: exploitation of garment workers, especially in some of the lowest-wages countries. At DodecaTees, we want to make sure that decent social standards are respected. To ensure this, our products bear the certification of FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION as they come from factories audited by this reliable organization.
As part of the supply chain, we must first pay an honest price to those factories that respect decent social standards. The end customer also bears some of the responsibility. A t-shirt for the price of a takeaway coffee and a croissant (a price barely over the cost of the cotton it contents) is unlikely to have been produced in acceptable working conditions.
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.
